Reconciliation

On the evening of the day of his Resurrection, as the apostolic mission was about to begin, Jesus granted the Apostles, through the power of the Holy spirit, the authority to reconcile repentant sinners with God and the Church: “Receive the Holy Spirit, If you forgive the sins of any, they are firgiven; it you retain the sins of any, they are retained.” (Jn 20:22-23)

The Catholic Sacrament of Reconciliation (also known as Penance, or Penance and Reconciliation) has three elements: conversion, confession and celebration. In it we find God’s unconditional forgiveness; as a result we are called to forgive others.

The Sacrament of Reconciliation is available on Saturdays at 4:00pm and 30 minutes before each daily Mass or on request.

During the seasons of Advent and Lent, additional times times are made available for the celebration of the Sacrament of Penance through Penetential services held at churches in the North and south Wards.
